In Iran, where the government proclaimed an interim leadership structure and 40 days of mourning, social media depicted scenes of both jubilation and sorrow.

Israeli defense authorities announced on Sunday that they would continue to destroy Iranian military facilities after their initial strikes on Iranian leaders, which were launched in two sites, killed 40 military commanders. For the first time, Oman, which had acted as a mediator in nuclear negotiations between Washington and Tehran, was targeted in Iran's retaliatory attacks.
