Trump says the US may send soldiers and conduct airstrikes in Nigeria

Following the Nigerian Presidency's suggestion of a conference to address the problem, U.S. President Donald Trump has

reiterated his warning of a military intervention in Nigeria over the killings of Christians.

Trump made this statement on Sunday while answering questions from reporters on Air Force One.

Trump said, "Could be, I mean, a lot of things, I envisage a lot of things," in response to a question about whether he was thinking of American airstrikes or ground forces in Nigeria.

"They are murdering Christians, and they are killing them in great numbers. We will not permit it to occur," he continued.

One day after warning that Christianity was "facing an existential threat" in Africa's most populous nation, Trump urged the Pentagon to sketch out a potential attack strategy in Nigeria, according to an incendiary post he made on his Truth Social platform on Saturday, according to ONIKEWIDE.

Trump claims that the United States will launch an attack if Nigeria does not stop the deaths, and that it will be "quick, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians."

Daniel Bwala, the spokesperson for President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria, said on Sunday that the United States is working with Nigeria to combat terrorism worldwide.

As long as Nigeria maintains its geographical integrity, Bwala said, it welcomes American assistance in the battle against terrorism.
