TCN warns locals about a three-day power outage in Lagos
Residents of Lagos and portions of Ogun State are advised to prepare for brief power outages due to a three-day
maintenance exercise announced by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
There will be three days of maintenance
Wave traps will be installed on the 330 kV line bays at the Aja and Alagbon Transmission Substations during the exercise, which is scheduled for November 26–29, 2025. The work will be done every day from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., according to TCN.
The Eko Electricity Distribution Company's service regions, including Lagos Island, Apapa, Mushin, Lekki, and portions of Ogun State including Ojo and Agbara, will be impacted by the repair, according to spokesperson Ndidi Mbah.
Power diversion-affected areas
"During the supply line diversion, we urge homeowners and businesses to prepare for slight power fluctuations. Our objective is to increase the transmission network's overall dependability," Mbah stated.
The business clarified that supplies to Akoka and Oworo Transmission Substations will be diverted via the Ikeja West 132 kV line, while power from Alagbon Substation will be temporarily transferred to the Ijora 132 kV line.
TCN reminded customers that although there might be temporary disruptions, the vital supply will remain.
In July and October of 2025, similar maintenance exercises were conducted, resulting in brief outages throughout the state.
Mbah emphasized that TCN's continuous efforts to update Lagos' electrical infrastructure include the November activity.
