Shehu accuses Akpabio of deceiving Nigerians overseas

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has come under fire from public affairs analyst Mahdi Shehu for

misleading Nigerians living overseas into believing that the nation has overcome poverty and hunger.

Shehu asked Nigerians living abroad to disregard the Senate President and not be influenced by his assertions in a post on X.

The amount of Nigeria's debt has risen to N170 trillion and is still rising. "Return home at your own peril," he wrote.

He pointed out that around 139 million Nigerians are suffering from extreme hunger and asserted that Akpabio is misleading the diaspora about the actual state of affairs in the nation.

Additionally, he noted that over 30 million children nationally suffer from chronic malnutrition, and that 60 million young people in Nigeria are currently unemployed.

Shehu exhorted people to "refresh themselves with the Lord's teachings about leaders who have made deceit a way of life and profit from falsehood."

The Senate President's "mouth is full of lies and threats; trouble and evil are under his tongue," he added, quoting many passages from the Bible.

Additionally, he referenced Ephesians 5:6, which states, "Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath comes on those who are disobedient?"

"You live in the midst of deception; in their deceit they refuse to acknowledge me," the LORD said in Jeremiah 9:6, he continued.
