Nigerian musician Omah Lay responded to online backlash after posting a series of daring pictures after a
trip overseas.
The "Soso" crooner recently shared photos of himself lounging in what looked like an opulent resort, just wearing white briefs and enjoying a drink. As soon as the images became viral, social media was flooded with comments.
Many fans appreciated his body and confidence, but others had a different attitude, criticizing him and even calling him names that were disparaging.
In response, Omah Lay publicly addressed the criticism on his Instagram story. What he wrote:
"I have ni**as in my direct messages calling me gay 😂 who have lost their freedom to be rigid and egotistical."
The singer's statement seemed to criticize individuals who were uneasy with his candor, implying that these responses are the result of insecurity and strict social norms.

In a recent interview that is currently trending on social media, the singer—who previously denied rumors that he had received a bone marrow transplant—made this clear.
Adekunle Gold revealed that around the age of five, he began to experience health issues. Reflecting on his experience, the 38-year-old father of one said that while his condition has improved with time, there are still times when he is in excruciating pain.
He described how a frightening incident in his early years led him to learn about the sickness for the first time.
Adekunle Gold declared, "I still have crises." Joint, leg, and occasionally stomach symptoms come up when we discuss crises. It is truly insane.
The night I became ill and my mother had to carry me miles to the hospital on her back was the first time I realized I had it.
The "Orente" singer was thankful that his health is now much better handled in spite of everything. He credited having access to high-quality healthcare and improving his own self-care for the improvement.
"I still occasionally experience crises, but they are not as severe as they were when I was younger.
Perhaps because I've figured out how to properly care for myself. I'm thankful to God that I have the means to accomplish that," he said.
